Lawn Hog - Aptly Named : By Za09

I used the Lawn Hog from April to June when I decided that a riding mower might prove better in reducing my physical exertion. I purchased a Sears 13.5HP Riding mower. All the headaches associated with gas, oil etc. started coming back to haunt me but I figured I owed it to myself to try. The first mow was a breeze. The next week I went out to start it and it was dead. I waited two weeks for replacement parts. After repairs, during which time I used the dependable Lawn Hog, the Riding mower ran fine but then, one of the front tires went flat and would not reseat itself properly. Another repair call, another delay. I noticed that no matter how I used the 6-position height adjustments the riding mower sometimes scalped areas of my grass and sometimes left other areas too long in length. I then attempted to change the riding mowers oil - WHAT A MISTAKE! The oil outlet valve did not protrude past the side edge of the riding mower and the oil spilled all over my garage floor and the mower housing itself. I decided, "THAT'S IT"! I returned it to Sears.
I am now happily mowing my lawn with the Lawn Hog and I cannot even imagine, in my wildest dreams, ever going back to an environmentally insane, stinky, oily, noisy, shaking gas mower of any kind.
By the way, the mulching function works fantastic and I now mulch much more than I bag, just remember to keep the blade clean.
I AM VERY HAPPY AND PLEASED WITH THIS MOWER.

I bought this mower after my old cordless one died. I know cordless is all the rage right now, but I don't know if people realize the nightmare they are. Battery starts to go dead = mower won't cut. Forget about tall grass. The mower would slow down and stop. I would have to lift the front wheels off the ground to get the blade to spin. I was lucky if I could get through my front yard on one charge. This Black & Decker MM875 however, was a beast! I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that during my time between mowers, my grass in my backyard grew to almost 3ft tall. I wasn't sure any mower could cut it. The MM875 not only plowed through it, but never hesitated for a moment. I know its not an ideal situation for a lawn mower's engine, but the grass was out of control! The beauty of a corded mower is that there's never a loss of power, no charging batteries over night, no gas or oil to mess with or store. Just plug it in and go. It took me two minutes to learn how to handle the cord following me around as I mowed. Its not rocket science people! I recommend a 14 gauge extension cord for full power especially over 50 feet. The height adjustment is awesome. Just squeeze the handle and it almost sets itself. The bag attachment holds a lot and is also easy to remove and connect. I really love this mower! If it can handle 3 feet of grass, it will handle a normal lawn with ease. Don't pass on this excellent machine!  

Excellent choice to replace a gas mower, June 25, 2011 : By Itsizzi

I have been wanting to replace my old gas mower for some time. When it died last year, I purchased this electric mower and couldn't be happier with my decision. I am only 5ft.2in and petite, and this was easy to unpack, minimal assembly and is light weight. Yes, you do need to be conscious of the location of the cord, and this requires a bit more maneuvering but its really no big deal. I took one reviewers advice to coat the bottom with cooking spray and it did make clean up easy. It does an excellent job on my lawn of bermuda grass. No more never-ending chore of gas, oil, filters, noisy smoking engine and repairs -its great!
